ABOUT US

Aaghaz Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, devoting its efforts for empowering underprivileged sections of society particularly women and labourers, strengthening local government institutions, promoting quality education and health awareness.
Aaghaz Foundation is working since 2006 in order to streamline the local government system, to ensure reforms for gender-sensitive governance structure and participatory community development through its contribution in various researches, advocacy campaigns, community mobilization, and training programs.Aaghaz Foundation did not have any parent organization.
Activities:
 Interactive sessions on Human Rights, Women Rights, Brick kills rights, Health and environmental awareness are regularly held with the communities of Shalimar and wagha Town
 Aaghaz foundation is member of convening committee of Alliance for Human development, Lahore which focuses to address the issue of violence against women
 Aaghaz Theater performs street and interactive theaters on the issues of violence against women, child labour, CCBs etc.
 Aaghaz foundation is also an active member of other advocacy forums including Pakistan social forum, Punjab NGOs coordination council, Pak India Peace forum, citizen Action committee and joint Action committee for people’s rights.

Health and Education:
 Aaghaz foundation is running 75 community based primary and adult Literacy Schools for needy children’s, with support of government institutions and local philanthropists.
 Arranging activities on child sexual Abuses in vulnerable segment of society
 Regularly organize medical camps with support of Doctors Association and different pharmaceutical companies in Shalimar and wagha Town.
 Organize awareness session on HIV/AIDS & T.B.
Strengthening of Local Government Institutions
 Provided training to union councils particularly women and labour councilors on their roles and responsibilities in Lahore and vehari.
 Formed a network of CCBs in city district Lahore
 Providing regular assistance to CCBs in registration, project formation and management

Gender Equality Programme
Strengthening District Bar Association & Setting up Facilitation Kiosk in District Court Lahore
Aaghaz Foundation is implementing the project of ‘Strengthening District Bar Association and Setting up Facilitation Kiosks in District Court Lahore’ under the Gender Equity Program (GEP) of Aurat Foundation by the support of the American People through United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
This project aims:
• Capacitating and strengthening District Bar Association
• Upholding women’s legal rights
• Encouraging pro-bono services to women litigants
• Facilitation of information dissemination via kiosk for women that seek legal assistance
